Therapist

Pronouns: any pronouns

Supervision is not about becoming someone else's version of a therapist—it is about cultivating your own strengths while expanding your clinical repertoire.

About Alex

As a supervisor, my style is warm, inquisitive, empathic, and versatile to fit the changing needs of growing clinicians. My approach is experiential, collaborative, and developmental, where I balance support with thoughtful challenge. I view supervision as a co-created space where therapists can deepen their clinical thinking, strengthen their authentic voice, and expand their capacity to meet clients with confidence, creativity, and compassion. My goal is not simply to teach interventions, but to help therapists become more fully themselves in their helping role.

Working with Alex

I believe our greatest growth happens through active learning, which is why I frequently incorporate role-play, psychodrama, and other experiential methods into supervision. Rather than only discussing cases, we bring them into action—exploring difficult moments, trying new interventions, and building the spontaneity and flexibility that effective therapy requires. Together, we examine not only what to do, but why, to foster both clinical conceptualization and intervention skills. I strive to create a supervision relationship that is deeply nonjudgmental and collaborative, where vulnerability is welcomed, power dynamics are openly examined, and clinicians feel supported in bringing their whole selves into the learning process. I also believe that our professional development is inseparable from our personal growth. I incorporate everything I practice in my own personal life and live by the principle that we can only take our clients as far as we have gone ourselves.

Specialty

  • My overall orientation is rooted in behavioral, psychodynamic, existential, and experiential approaches.

  • I have extensive experience working with LGBTQIA+ communities and individuals from diverse backgrounds navigating identity, relationships, trauma, and life transitions.

  • As a supervisor, I enjoy helping clinicians synthesize complex clinical presentations into clear conceptualizations and practical next steps.

  • I am especially passionate about supporting early-career therapists as they develop confidence in their clinical judgment and discover their unique therapeutic identities.

Together, we will identify the patterns, assumptions, and moments of uncertainty that arise in your work and transform them into opportunities for learning, growth, and increased effectiveness.
